The spotlight shines on Finch Larson, a high school student, as he stands alone center stage. Everywhere else around him is dark.

CHARACTERS: ALEX: A young woman. She is wary of things and often feels the need to escape her troubles by venturing into the woods.

Day #1

    Last night I had the craziest dream. I dreamed that I was living with this community in the clouds. All of my friends and family were the people who made up my cloud village, but the villages beyond held strange creatures.

I remember vividly. It was end of May or early June. This picture perfect afternoon… Oh, no wait, that’s a song. Ah yes, it was autumn. Sam and I were walking through the neighborhood, when an unpleasant thought infiltrated my mind.

AT CURTAIN RISE
SCENE 1

ALEX enters upstage left. She is followed by HARPER who is examining a map. ALEX crosses to center stage while HARPER lingers behind. ALEX scans the surrounding area while HARPER continues to study the map.

Kaylee. My best friend in the whole world. I can't think of a time when I didn't see her by my side. To everyone else, she's imaginary, to me she's as real as it gets. Everything about her is better than I could imagine.
