They say children are a new generation,
But how could that be so?
How could they be our salvation,
If we never let them grow?
We fill them with our own ambitions,
A dream from long ago
But by doing this you strip them
Of all the things that they could know
I know you only wish the best for them,
To give them things you only dreamed of,
Avoid walls you've overcome
But fighting made you stronger
And created the parent that they love
So embrace the ruts and failures
For they make the triumph only sweeter
Let them see your scars and imperfections
And get to know who they adore
Show them the strength of your survival
From the waging of your wars
But how could that be so?
How could they be our salvation,
If we never let them grow?
We fill them with our own ambitions,
A dream from long ago
But by doing this you strip them
Of all the things that they could know
I know you only wish the best for them,
To give them things you only dreamed of,
Avoid walls you've overcome
But fighting made you stronger
And created the parent that they love
So embrace the ruts and failures
For they make the triumph only sweeter
Let them see your scars and imperfections
And get to know who they adore
Show them the strength of your survival
From the waging of your wars
