The Glass Statue Girl

The Glass Statue Girl

looks at the world with eyes of shards

moves through life like a river

her figure sluicing across paths of people

who see a clear accessory

The Glass Statue Girl

was forged in fire

and patches up her cracks each night with the same

flame that dance

around her like a warm embrace

She is a monument

and every once in a while someone comes and confesses

or revels or complains

she longs to take down the sign that says: "do not touch"

but she is go guarded against breaking

The Glass Statue Girl

has been kept in storage too long

with a deceitful mirror as company

slicing her mind into jagged chunks

trying to pick up her pieces

But when the Glass Statue Girl stands tall

her colors burst from within

no longer is she invisible to most

she reaches out

and offers pieces of herself stained with love

The Glass Statue Girl is art

a never-finished piece

she is taking down her sign slowly

she will learn to embrace

her flame.
