Hello Spring

Hello Spring,

I see you down the cobbled path;

Your flowers lead the way,

I run after you—two can play this game.

Hello Spring,

When it rains, I still chase you

As the droplets are streaming down my face,

Under the buds and petals is my favorite place.

But Spring,

I'm rooted in those blooming trails,

The birds that call out hear it all,

I thought when you came, I wouldn't fall.

I see you Spring,

Littering my backyard with your colors,

Waking me up on foggy sunrises,

The robins' refrains echo your disguise.

Hello Spring,

Your flowers are bleeding red

Leading me through that way,

Spring, I'm sorry I can't stay.

    I am thinner than I thought:

    Though my scale says I'm not,

    I can see the sour fruit I've caught.

    In the spring, the flowers call

    Like I could be King of them all,

    Burning in the sun before the fall.

    not a cola or a root beer;

    something in between

    like a tortured machine—

    it will power down soon.

    that tang on your tongue

    is from my chewed up wires,

    lightning should show through smoke
