I Remember

I remember 
the first time I saw it 
the sun beating down on my face 
the other kids laughing and playing to their heart's content 
brings a smile to my face 

I remember 
the blankets and the ridiculously colored bikinis
the sand in my toes
the waves crashing down,
the sound they produce ever so satisfying to my young ears

I remember 
the pastel-blue skies
the fluffy clouds,
all shaped like animal crackers
Making me hungry every second I look at them

I remember
the kites soaring alongside the pearl-white seagulls
the caws of those birds filling the sky
The coolness of the water
It somehow gives me warmth on the inside

My first day at the ocean
