The International Space Station flew over my town last night with six people aboard. It's hard to say what I felt in words when I saw this but here is my best attempt :)
Millions of stars
But all eyes are fixed on one
The one moving the fastest
Flinging itself across the glassy dome of the sky
Thousands of people
Waking up
Going to sleep
Living life every day
Hundreds of adventurers
Breaking free of this cage
And venturing into the unforgiving outside
Silent and dark
Tens of people
Here tonight at this park
After watching a play I didn't see.
Laughter floats through time
Riding on the back of the night air.
And me
Standing there
Watching that bright light fly overhead
Everything becomes still
And for a single second it's just me and those six adventurers
And as I gaze out I think
If the stars are always there watching us,
Are we ever truly alone?
Millions of stars
But all eyes are fixed on one
The one moving the fastest
Flinging itself across the glassy dome of the sky
Thousands of people
Waking up
Going to sleep
Living life every day
Hundreds of adventurers
Breaking free of this cage
And venturing into the unforgiving outside
