Is It Possible to Protect Everything That matters to You? No. It Isn't.

“Is it possible to protect everything that matters to you?”
In response to this question, I believe that it is possible to protect what matters to you, but depending on who you are and what life you live it might not be possible to protect everything. This is a big question that definitely makes me think but it is a question that doesn't need an easy yes or no answer, to protect everything you care about would be too much for one person to do, but it may be possible. If you have one value or one trait that you care about the most, then protecting that would be possible, still challenging because the world feels like it is trying to make you break and crack and let go of everything you love. The human experience is an introspective one and definitely has lots of pain attached to it, living, in general, is not possible without pain. If someone just cares about family and they try to protect their family and shield them from all of the violence and impurities of the world they would be denying them a true experience as a living person. Protecting something that matters to you can be different to many, it could be shielding them so they live under a rock, or it could be guiding them. Whatever protection may look like to you it will always have a fault because we are human and to do anything perfectly is not reasonable. I think that if we all try to keep what we care about close to us and protect it this can cause damage, and you wouldn't actually be protecting. This is a very open-ended question in my opinion, and I could go on and on about what it means to protect something or what it means to care, and how these things can all differ and transform depending on who’s doing them and why but to conclude my answer I think it isn't possible, as much as we could dream of protecting the things and people we love forever it isn't realistic. To protect everything we care about is not doable, not when you are a human on the Earth with faults, and when society is expecting you.

  • When I Write

Writing. I feel smart when I write. I feel intelligent, academic confidence has always been a stranger to me. Writing is expressive and powerful, the words you choose to write can shift one's perspective on a story or show them a hidden truth.
  • My Name

My name is Roma. It's short and seemingly simple although the meaning is not. Roma means Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, power, luxury, and beauty. I am not Lakshmi.
