Just Give Me Some Empathy

Whispers of warmth drifting through the air,

The security of being understood,

Such a great feeling,

If only it weren’t so fleeting.

Gentle laughs and puppy kisses,

Light squeezes of a hand,

Ones that can answer your best wishes,

Ones that can understand.

Always chasing this feeling,

I give and give and give,

But I never feel it returned.

They say they’re there,

But I’m always alone with my despair

When I believe I’ve reached the darkest time,

Someone holding that light,

That warmth I always crave,

Enters my day,

And chases that darkness away

Every night I thank them for it,

For that life they’ve brought to me.

But as we grow and their light shines brighter,

I know one day that feeling will go away

And so will they.

  • Place of Love

If love were a place, where would it be?

Would it be in the arms of their gentle embrace?

Would it be where echoes of their laughter kiss the wall?

Is it the place where only love can dwell?

    Would it be ever changing?

  • Stuck In Mind

    My heart aches,

    You linger in mind,

Where others should live, you stay.

    Why can’t I forget something,

That was never meant to be?

    Everything reminds me of you

    The gentle patter of raindrops,

  • Forever Aching

    Deep in my chest

    Lies an ever-throbbing ache,

    A constant reminder

    Of love unreturned.

Late at night, I lie awake,

Dreaming of things that could never be.

    A smile, a laugh, a fleeting gaze—
