(A/N This is a copy of a letter I wrote to all 100 senators asking them to remove Donald Trump from office. I am so fed up with being silent.)
Dear Senator,
We need to remove President Trump from office. Time and time again we have seen that he is guilty of many crimes and that he should not be allowed to get away with it. The president of the United States should not be above the law. And yet, if any other person did the things President Trump has done, they would be held accountable for their actions. So why, I ask you, is he still fighting back against the system that keeps America a just and fair place?
On December 18, President Trump was the third US president to be impeached by the House of Representatives. The representatives who voted for the Articles of Impeachment to pass know what I am talking about. They know about the awful things that the President has done. They admit that they happened. If we are going to remove President Trump, we need to look at the Senate trial not as Democrats or Republicans or Independents but as American citizens. I am begging you to look past your pride and the expectations of whatever party you are against and use your vote to remove him.
I do not know everything about the whole removal process, but what I do know is this. In the 14 years that I have been alive, there has not been a more important moment in American history than there is right now. This Senate trial could change my life. Because if Donald Trump gets reelected, then the American values we love are at risk and the growing disrespect for the US from foreign countries will become even worse.
You may be reading this letter and nothing in here has persuaded you to change your mind about anything that the president has done. So please do me one favor. Find a quiet place, close your eyes and sit by yourself for 10 minutes. Ask yourself if the things the president has done are unfair or cruel in any way. Ask yourself if the things he has done deserve removal from office. And ask yourself if you want the things he has done and the fact that the Senate couldn’t or wouldn’t stop him in the history books forever. Ask yourself all these things and more completely non partially, as if you were an outsider looking in on the situation. If, when you open your eyes, you still think he’s the best choice, then I can’t change your mind. I can’t stop you from voting for him. But please, if you vote for him, don’t vote because of what’s in it for you, or the pressure of your party’s expectations. Vote for him because you think he’s a good man and you think that every single thing that he is doing is right and just. And if you are already voting against him, then I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for having the courage to stand up to him.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for taking ten minutes to sit and reflect. I can’t vote but I still want my voice to be heard by you and America.
Have a nice day and a Happy Holidays,
