life at its best

I wake and hear the pounding of rain on the roof

A type of giddiness fills my stomach,

My lips turn into a smile,

And I snuggle deeper under my comforter

For the first time in a while,

I feel completely rested,

A smile is permanent on my face

I look amazing.

I walk into school,

It's the end of the week.

People smile back at me as I walk through the doors.

My best friend runs to meet me, a smile painting her face bright.

School is almost over,

All assignments turned in.

No homework, no worries.

The bell rings, and today I take my time leaving.

Non-stop giggling, just having fun.

Friday night lights, touchdown after touchdown

We are winning, and tonight I feel like I'm winning

Holding my best friend's hands, laughing at everything

Sleepovers, late nights

Minecraft at her house, whispering the lyrics of our favorite songs.

Drinking Coke, laughing at nothing

Talking about everything, wishing this moment would never end

Late at night, on a Saturday

Reading my favorite book yet again,

In love with the characters, the story.

Curled up, warm

Rainy days,

Cookie baking,

Harry Potter on in the background

Warm blankets

Sunshine,

Baseball,

No fighting, just happiness

Running around and tackling eachother on the grass

Happiness does not come when it is supposed to,

Yet in the simplest of moments

The times we least expect it.

"We do not remember days, we remember moments."
