A life time

I remember the day you picked me out,
A shimmer on your wrist, young and proud.
The world was bright; you were full of dreams,
With laughter and plans bursting at the seams.

I clinked by your side on busy days,
Through friendships made and winding hallways.
Exams at dawn, you’d twirl me ‘round,
Each worry soft as my metal sound.

I was there when your heart first broke,
When words were hard, when tears bespoke.
Through every twist, through love and ache,
A silent friend, for your own sake.

Over time, I grew worn and bent,
Each scratch a mark of the places we went.
Now, in a drawer, quiet I lay,
But in memories close, I forever stay.

  • Where I’m From

    I am from coffee beans,

from bitter brews and cracked porcelain mugs.

I am from the steamed soy eggs,

the scent that clings to mornings

    like an old, Chinese dwelling.

  • Wintery days

    Lights aglow on Christmas morn,
Laughter and joy in moments reborn.
Love fills the air as stories are shared,
A day of warmth, with hearts unprepared.

  • To Emily

In Amherst's shade, where whispers grow,
You stitched the seams of all we know,
A bee's soft hum, a slant of light,
Became the fabric of your night.
