My scarf

My scarf wrapped around my neck

Keeping out the cold bite 

In it I feel the softness of a first kiss

The warmth of a summer night 

The comfort of a mother's love 

And birds singing above me 

I can also feel the whispers shared between friends  

Trapped forever for only me to hear

In my scarf I feel the deepness of his eyes 

And the light reflecting off her shiny hair 

The food I wish to share

With someone I care for 

In my scarf that keeps me warm on cold winter days I know I don’t need to be afraid 

Because I’m bundled up tight in memories from my life
