For My Sister

This poem is for my sister
And the days we spend together
The afternoons we spend outside on the swings pretending to be characters
The movies we watch that we both love
The books we read that we can have long conversations about.
It's for my sister, who picks me up when I'm down
And makes me giggle when nothing else can
My sister who reads me funny articles and
Lets me spy on her video conferences
Who lets me have a cheezit when she's eating a bag and I'm not.
She's the Leo, the Mulan, the Hermione, the August-born fiery fighter with words.
This poem is for my best friend,
My sister.
