Night Road Trip

It's quiet. Just the rumbling of the car. My friend is asleep next to me, their head on my shoulder. I open the windows. The breeze is nice and cool and rustles my hair. As soon as the window is open, it reveals the sound of crickets. I breathe in the fresh air. It smells of wet foliage. It starts to lightly rain, the tapping on the trees around me and the roof of the car becoming apparent. It's peaceful. I look out the window as the car pulls out of the forest and into a field. It's a dirt road, bumpy, but not unpleasant. The Moon shines brightly on the puddles. I smile. It's a perfect night. Not too cold, not too warm. Not loud like the city, but not eerily quiet like a haunted house. My friend is sleeping soundly by my side. I have to say, I love this night road trip.
