Our Remarkable Hearts

We are such remarkable beings;

In the hearts we have learned to draw

beat our brilliance through persistence

and the way how even when we feel

as if our lungs have been shattered,

what was left of our love blown

and scattered in the wind, we

can still rely on the pattern

that thrums through our chests

while we write and while we dance;

It hums in us,

you know, and

we can see our stomachs,

the entirety of our lives,

in the verses across our bodies;

We have found the way to turn vulnerability,

an organ with no true mind

of its own,

into a symbol of love which

I will forever believe sprouts flowers;

And for that, I believe that we

are remarkable beings.
