Paradox

It took a while to conjugate
the verb to heal to healed
Now I’ve learned
this change of tense
Requires quite a will
And if you stop to take a breath
The world turns upside down
The uphill battle’s
Now inside out
And your efforts amounted to nil

The leaded stone you fought against
Just plunges out of sight
But don’t forget the paradox
Of this topsy turvy place
For up is down, left is right
And now you’re in the way of the boulder

It slows to a halt at the dip of the breast
It settles around your shoulders
At first it is but light as snow
Just a stinging in your throat
Until all at once
it couldn’t be colder
For stone makes a horrible coat.

  • Restless Energy

    I have this restless energy
That leaves me in total disarray
I’m not sure what to do with her
    What exactly could I say?

I’m not sure how I know she’s here
But it’s a feeling that builds up inside
  • Of the Chronic Sort

    Look, I understand
    you’re just trying to relate
    Pain makes you uncomfortable
    It’s a very human trait

    I am not in favor
Of the pain my body makes
And I will not be offended
If there’s not a part of you that aches
