Quick on the Draw

You

love me

fast, miss me

faster, I ran to

you, now running away takes

much longer. To get to you

was almost all down hill, just an

inbreath and an outbreath or two, but the

climb is ahead, it is ahead, I'm not turning

back, even if the way I’m going means leaving you

at the last turn in the path. I remember you held

me to you. You and the seconds jump and you held me

to you faster and as each day passed the nights fell away quicker,

until

I saw.

I saw your

breath on my breast

as it became no more

than a whisper, yes we were

quick on the draw, but the blood

takes its time, it is still seeping faster.
