Reader's Dilemma

Don't start reading
We're about to start eating
A delicious dinner for two

With plates piled high
And blueberry pie
What am I supposed to do?

I'm on page away 
From them saving the day
But the food smells strongly of stew!

I quicken my reading
My stomach is pleading
I can't make it all the way through

I spring from my chair
Quickly run down the stair
Or maybe I up and flew!

But I'm bored as I eat
So I jump to my feet
Suddenly I know just what to do!

Why take a break
For a small slice of cake?
When I eat I can read my book too!
