"The Soil Washed Away"

"Balance"

In the style of Mary Oliver

The soli washed away by days of
stream water tumbling, churning
the roots of plants
of trees
of ferns
of moss
are left to dangle
swaying
tendrils of twisting, branching life
reaching out
trying
to grasp the ground again

They do not mind the water
rushing quickly past
they are not the only roots
and they hold the bank togethter
to keep the water safe

Balance
Everything is important
