Songbird

The songbird sings of hope

Hope it does not own

In pure silence, it copes

Aching all alone

It ensures joy to all

To all but itself

It cares for those who fall

But not its own health

It always seems cheery

But that’s a masked lie

It has become weary

Not caring to fly

Silently, the bird hopes and prays

For someone who cares to stay

Someone to brighten dreary days

And scare agony away

Someone to fix their shattered wings

And restore its bright feathers

Someone to heal the pain that stings

Change rain to sunny weather

Still, the songbird weeps, the storm stays

Without light in its gloomy days

Without warmth, without a home

The bird remains all alone
