Stars

A girl stood alone

on the edge of the world,

scared to fall,

but somehow she could not leave

Her heart pounding,

Her chest screaming,

But the world around her was quiet and dark

and so she stood alone

on the edge of the world

scared to fall

But as her trembling toes

touched the edge of infinity

She looked to the sky

and realized she in fact wasn't alone

Because

stars always seem brighter in the dark

and a gentle breeze is louder in the silence

So a girl sat down

on the edge of the world

no longer scared of falling

and made friends with the stars

Thank you to my stars

(you know who you are)

  • I don't know

Words used to flow easily out of my fingertips,

    my pencil effortlessly connected constellations,

as a stream of simple thoughts transferred perfectly onto a page,

but now my mind is mush,

  • The Little Light

    The spark started small

In a 17 year old student,

who made friends with the artist.

She let it grow in her heart,

    and then passed it on

by showing kindness to the outsider

  • Cookies to Constellations

I miss when everything used to be simple

    when everyone got a cookie

and we didn't have to worry

about if there was one less

    But I did,

because what if another guest came to the tea party?
