Stretching Up

On my tippy-toes, I became a statue
Wavering determindely like a piece of grass underwater,
My neck craning to reach the sun.
I reached towards gray clouds that sped overhead and made tracks like
Fish swarming through the water to get away from a wave
That could blast them apart.
And I trailed my hand through the sky to make
A ripple
The tracks of a car on the road that drove my life
And my heels reached farther, so I stretched farther,
Invincible, for one silver moment.
The beat of a drum was what brought me down,
But my blood swept through my veins like
The powerful urge to go back up again
And stretch myself towards the sky.
