Wake Up Call

Wake Up Call

Adelyn Ophardt

All night long

Cars rumble on

Silent nights

All and gone

When we wake

There is more

People knocking at the door

Always moving

We never stop

Days go by

Weeks

Months

Years

Always on the move

Never time to enjoy the view

Nature’s moving

Changing too

But takes its time

Until of course

We showed up

We chop and chop

Burn and burn

Shove and Shove

Until our nature

Is no more

People are still knocking at the door

My dear friend

I'm sorry to say

Nature might not

Come again someday

Unlike the person at the door

Nature is not forever more

So we should stop

And pause our lives

To look at nature

One final time

Before the

Glaciers

Snow

And lakes

Are gone

Before the

Icecaps Shed their ice

And flood the land

While creatures still roam that land

Breath the air

From the trees

See the nature

To be seen

Turn off the lights

And tune your ears

Find the quiet

And the clear

To watch and see the stars

Before we’ve all

Drifted too far.
