it only gets their attention when it’s thousands dead
that one little boy had hopes , dreams , and fears , smiled when he was happy and when sad , cried tears
that man was on his way to work, not knowing it’d be the last time he’d kiss his wife on the cheek and drop his children off to school on a monday telling them they’ll have a great week
that toddler just learned his abcs, he was excited, tomorrow they’d learn their 123s
that teenage girl just pierced her ears, laughing through the sting,
already planning the outfit she’d wear for spring
but it came to an end
when the bomb fell and every screamed, shook the sky lit up, no one understood
everyone from children to the old, scurrying away. on the floor, dead bodies lay, smoke chocking the sky to gray and on went the next day.
when war is announced what do you see
I see the air thick with ash and grief,
mothers dropping to their knees in disbelief
Prayers whispered low through trembling teeth
you watch the innocent die and shrug it off,
your guilt frozen cold, your soul forever lost
