Watermelon Pink

We were sitting  

On the sand 

Along the shoreline 

Our laughter 

Splashing into the silence 

Of the night 

I could feel the heat flush 

Onto my cheeks 

Watermelon pink 

As I looked at you 

And felt fireworks 

In my chest 

I knew you did too 

Because your cheeks  

Were toadstool red
