I am just a girl
Who sees the weight of the world
& wonders if there is something she can add
To make the dazzle of the sun’s reflection a little brighter.
I am just a girl
Who stops to feel the breeze against her cheeks and smell the flowers
& imagines that someone someday will push a pink one in her hair
While running a loving finger across the slant of her cheekbone.
For I am just a girl
Who wishes to forever stay a dreamer
& scowls at curly hair forever fighting against inevitably weak bobby pins
With eyes that forever follow the hummingbird buzzing outside her window.
