Willow's Well is a well that is said to grant wishes-at least, that's what the locals say. You can only make one wish though, and it's likely it'll never come true, for the Well is said to only ever grant a worthy wish. What is, a worthy wish, you ask? Well, nobody knows. Every wish that has ever been asked didn't come true. Well, except the first wish, made by a young person named Willow, hence the name Willow's Well. Nobody truly knows what she wished for. People like to guess, though, and make up stories for her.
I stand at the well, eyes hopeful. I take off my friendship bracelet, the one thing to help me remember. I wish for hope. I drop the bracelet in the well, the bottom too far down to be visible. I stand there for a few more minutes, eyes closed. And just like that, my wish is granted.
7 days earlier.
I was just getting over a cold, when I found out my dog, Banks, ran away. Banks had been with me my whole life. He would never have run away. Only one thing could set him off-"YOU GOT A BIRD!?" I had screamed. Banks hated birds. It was a weird habit, unique to him. I don't know why. But now my sister had a pet bird and now I had no dog.
The next day my friend tried to comfort me, but they seemed off. Like, a kind of nervousness.
The next day after that, they broke the news. "I'm moving," they had said. I was now feeling straight-up horrible. They were moving to Hawaii, which was kinda really far away from here.
The next few days I got F's on my tests.
Now we're up to yesterday, when my friend moved.
I wished for hope. I sacrificed everything. And I got everything.
