Write me love letters

Write me love letters,

My love.

Seal it with your deepest feelings

Engrave it with gentle reminders I’m cared for and

Somebody to you.

Inside,

folded into the faded parchment paper found in your childhood desk,

Tell me of words you’ve longed to say.

Tell me of the memories you lay in bed late into the night thinking of,

Reliving.

Tell me I’m the reason you wake in the morning,

Just so you can say good morning before the sun kisses my fluttering eyelashes as I wake.

Tell me you thought of me as you walked the old cobblestone streets of town,

Passing the quaint bookstore you know I love so dearly.

Tell me you felt my embrace as you listened to your favorite love songs,

Smiling softly when the song I introduced to you just last week plays at random.

Tell me when you read poetry all you can think of is me,

Reflecting your love for me in each stanza, each verse.

Tell me you’re scared to lose me, just so I can remind you of my wholehearted,

undying love and affection for your every inhale.

Promise me of your unwavering loyalty,

And a hand to hold,

A person to hug when I feel as though I can’t go on much longer.

Finally, when you’ve told me everything that’s weighed on your heavy heart,

Everything I swear you’ve never told me before,

Tuck the parchment into the envelope adorned with my phone number

And allow me to be immersed in overwhelming tranquility and love as I read what

I’ve always wished to hear.

With my butterfly consumed body drifting to sleep,

Curled tightly into a ball as if to wrap your feelings so close in hopes they won’t escape me,

Take out your next sheet of parchment,

Dip your father’s old quill in ink,

And start again.

For if not reminded everyday, my overthinking mind

encased in insecurity

Will second guess your feelings for me ,

convincing my defeated heart that my love has always been one sided.
