writing poems

as im writing poems i fall in love with them

but as soon as i stop it’s all gone

and i feel like im copying someones work

some idea

but i know they might have inspired me to write poems

and i hope they don’t mind

all of this seems to be the only thing holding me together

keeping my head above the water

like im learning to swim through life

keep my head above the water

so thank you

for letting me be inspired by you

for letting me take things that happened to you

sorry they make you sad

sorry they make you remember

but i know your life experiences changed how you will forever be

watching you suffer through heartbreak

i see the way you look at him even when he’s never going to look back

i’ve learned too

learned not to get attached

learned to have a heart that’s hard to get to

if it’s harder to fall then it’s harder to break

i learned that there will always be people who break up with you

tear you apart limb from limb

so your friends have to sew you back together

i’ve seen you cry

or have a face of realization

that they’re really over you

that you might still love them

but it’s time to move on

what i’m trying to say is that just by watching

just by listening

by being around you

i know 

that we have all learned something

and i hope that never stops you from loving someone again

the only wish i have for myself is that writing these poems 

won’t stop me from falling too
