You and I

Verse 1

We met under our darkened skies, humming

our own lullabies, that

sent the stormy clouds chasing.

With our shadows tailing behind us, in

the rain soaked streets,

they danced to a

song of love and fervor that

sent us beyond the stormy weather into

the stars where we would scribe

constellations upon our

skin.

They served a purpose, a map of our lives-

together,

we lived among the stars.

An Interlude..

You've been a friend, a crush, a partner in crime...

and most of all

a piece of me.

I truly doubt you will ever find this,

but these words,

written by the outlines of my heart,

are for you.

Verse 2

Now we live under different skies,

singing solo works shaped

by the uneven beats

of our once close hearts.

Our shadows wander and find

themselves dancing to

the breeze that we were once so

scared to touch-

as if fear was the only thing that bound us.

The constellations fade.

The stars become harder to see and

now I trace them alone-

no longer the same.

Still, I reach for them, using

the memory of your hand as my guide-

echoing your name across the expanse,

just incase, you

are echoing mine too.
