You’re Gone

Where have you gone?

I search your gaze
Clinging to the hope
That the girl I know
Is hiding below the surface

Yet sometimes hope
Is just a waste of energy

*******

Listen closely...

Don’t let your spunk
Be dragged by repulsive invisible hands
Gnarly and red
Into a deep black pool
Of self doubt

Block out the voice
Inside your head
That screams lieby the dozen
Repeatedly stating,
“No one cares.”
“They won’t listen.”
“Your appearance is everything.”
“Nobody loves you.”

Look around
I’m RIGHT HERE!
I care
I’ll listen
Your beauty is blinding
On both the inside and the outside
And never forget my friend
I love you

It’s unbearable to sit here
Watching you transform

Your quirky traits
That result in hours of giggles
Destroyed underneath the heel of your shoe

Inside jokes die upon your lips
No flashy comebacks
To my teasing

Not even a flicker of a smile
Passes across your face
Only shadows
A frown plastered upon your lips
Drawn on with permanent marker

The longer I examine
The girl before me
I realize
I don’t know her

Her body
A perfect replica
Of a best friend I know
Yet she is different inside
And that’s what matters most

To be frank
I don’t see a single trace
Of my best friend
All I see
Is a stranger

As if someone
Gutted your personality
Seperating it from your body
They replaced it
With one unlike anything seen before
A new voice
That speaks only negativity
A heart
Dripping with sorrow
Feet that only run away
Arms that refuse to hug
Eyes always soaked in tears
Always noticing the slightest imperfections
Ears that acknowledge words full of hate
For both others and yourself
A nose made for sniffling
Mouth hardly used
Hands stiff and cold

A whole new person

Your gone
And I’m petrified
Afraid..
You’re never coming back

    the breeze of baited breath,
roots threaten to break ground zero.

    too much
    too little
    only the trees understand

    Sentenced

    I am guilty

    The bars which restrain me
    are but my own fault

    I am guilty

    The lifeless walls
    frozen, unfeeling
yield no give as I fight to break free

    My crimes:
    To want,

    Only A Memory

    The wind
brushes my cheek, with a kiss.
    Neck craned, my eyes
    skim the sky in bliss

    The scene before me,
    a canvas to interpret,
I stare, deep within the soul of each star
this game I refuse to forfeit.
