Running home

Yellow jacket,
red rain boots,
she pulls her hood up,
covering her face,
a kind face,
with gentle, sloping eyes,
and a delicate button nose,
which expands with every tired breath,
she runs,
away from her problems,
away from the expectations,
her bright boots cause explosions in every puddle she steps in,
cold droplets running down her bare legs,
and darkening the silk of her skirt,
when she stops,
she leans on her knees,
heaving with panting sighs,
letting the soreness of her legs erase the soreness of her heart,
she's almost there,
and her heart jumps with the thought of seeing him again,
people would say she ran away,
but for her,
she ran home.
