Spring

SpringMadi Mousley
The dark, depressing blanket of winter is slowly pulled off the groggy earth. As snow and ice melt,The sweet scent of mud and maple syrup fills the air.Like magic, the strength of the sun’s rays makes the snow disappear and tree buds pop. Nature’s bounty sprouts and grows right before our eyes.Ice patches melt into dark mud puddles of unknown depths,And frost heaves create speed bumps that swallow vehicles.Lakes and ponds begin to thaw, drawing ducks and geese to the fresh open water. Birds begin to sing, and warm breezes flow through the now open windows. As the air temperature rises, and the sun shines down upon us,Spirits and moods are lifted. Finally, springtime is here!

    The bell rings at 3:00pm.
The hallways fill with the sounds of gleeful laughs and excited chatter.
    All the students rush outside.

    No more:
    Homework.
    Lectures.
    Stress.

    Instead:
    Beach days.
    Campfires and s’mores.
