Spring Rain

And the spring rain came down like wet stars
Healing the dry earth
Letting it exhale
And grow
And we reached out hopeful hands to the sky
Grazing clouds and letting planets slip through our fingers.
We soaked up the rain, like thirsty plants
Left in the sun for too long
Drinking the joy that filled the air with laughter
Singing loudly wild songs of life
Drumming our bodies to the beat of a giddy spring rain.
We danced to fly
And leaped to feel the air beneath our feet
And
When we'd drank enough
I took her hand
And we raced back into warmth
And light
And childhood.
We said no
To taking hot showers
Because we did not want to wash off
The giddy spring rain.
We let it sink into our souls
And heal our hearts
And free our minds.
