The Maze

Every turn and bend looks the same. It's getting darker by the second. What to do, what to do. No one in sight. You're all alone. Doesn’t that sound like a good horror movie, as long as you aren’t in it. The one time I try to have some fun, after being stuck at home due to the coronavirus I get lost. This was supposed to be a fun day with my friends and it turns into me losing my friends inside a Halloween corn maze. I don’t even know how I lost them one minute they were with me the next they were gone. Just like in a horror movie.

Let me rewind and explain what happened. It all started like a normal Friday, me and my friends hanging out at the beach. We had planned on spending the whole day there and then going to a movie. However, that's not what happened. Yes we did go to the beach but we never made it to the movie. We had finished our day at the beach and were packing up our things getting ready to go to the movies, when a piece of paper that was flying around caught my eye. So I picked it up to see what it was. It was a flyer for a Halloween corn maze 20 minutes away. One of my friends watched me pick it up so she immediately snatched it out of my hand and began to read. Her favorite holiday is Halloween so she wanted to go. Before I knew it we were headed to the maze.

That my friends is how I ended up in the maze. “It will be fun”they said, “The movie was stupid you wouldn’t have liked it” they said. Where were they now? Who knows? I have tried to call them but no one will answer and their location says they are right next to me and they clearly aren’t. I kept walking. Maybe they decided to leave and go to the movies after all. Where is the exit? Where is it? I come to a fork in the road. Do I take a left or a right? I chose right slowly turning the corner scared of what I would see. All of a sudden a cold wet substance splashes all over me. I jump up only to find myself in a puddle of water sitting in my bed. It had only been a dream. A terrible one but luckily only a dream. I wasn’t lost in a Halloween corn maze, thank goodness.

Since school is out during the summer there are many different possibilities of activities to fill your days with. There is spending time with friends, going swimming and camping. Those are common things to do during the summer.

“How does the weather look for this week?” I ask my dad early Tuesday morning.

    “Sunny and beautiful,” he replies.

In other words, that means perfect weather for haying.

“What are you going to mow?” my mom asks.
