A Poem of Joyful Tears

You say you're sad but I've seen you smiling
There is no difference between yellow and blue if you look close enough.
Toxic bugspray smells like fresh apples
And cold ice cream hurts my teeth.
Dear sweet child with her head underwater,
The world will only end when a gold pen runs across the surface of the sky and turns it inky.
All the poems in the world have been strung together by lonely individuals
Longing for friends in their words
Like T-shirts and flannel dresses hung on a clothesline to dry in the scorching sun and the watery breeze.
7:04 on a Tuesday,
And I'll sit and contemplate the woes of a llama who looks like an alpaca.
