Holding On

How much longer
Can we hold on?
Cramping down our emotions
We refuse to free
Bottling them up
Refusing to acknowledge them
Watching those we love
Only through a screen
I see them so they must be real
But when I reach out
To feel the comfort of their touch
Fingers land upon glass
Disappointment leaks from my eyes
Its only a figment of imagination
Wearing masks everywhere but home
Our breath released
Only to be inhaled once more
Starring listlessly at objects
Waiting for…
Something
How much longer
Can we stay six feet apart?
Our hearts desire for physical touch
Is overbearing
Bringing us to our knees
But our brains reminding us
Of the risk we present
If we listen to our heart
But nothing good can happen
If you don't take a risk
So why do we listen?
We’re afraid of the consequences if we don't
Why are we
Pretending everything will be okay?
When people are dying
Families are suffering
Businesses are going bankrupt
People are scared
We don’t want to hear
Its going to be okay
We want you to listen
Except the situation
Have the bitter taste
Of what is truly means
Resonate on your tongue
Except the challenges we face
And the obstacles we’ll see soon
If you don’t take the time to except it
We will never fix it
Hurry
We can’t hold on much longer

  • Awaiting An Invitation

    Tree limbs dance in
    the breeze of baited breath,
roots threaten to break ground zero.
    time;
    too much
    too little
    only the trees understand
    me

    glass stregthens
    mirrors melt
    clouds converge and darkness reigns

    Sentenced

    I am guilty

    The bars which restrain me
    are but my own fault

    I am guilty

    The lifeless walls
    frozen, unfeeling
yield no give as I fight to break free

    My crimes:
    To want,
    the stars

    Only A Memory

    The wind
brushes my cheek, with a kiss.
    Neck craned, my eyes
    skim the sky in bliss

    The scene before me,
    a canvas to interpret,
I stare, deep within the soul of each star
this game I refuse to forfeit.
