A Fork in the Road

I strolled down the sidewalk on a bright, warm, Sunday morning. It was a normal day, actually an abnormally nice day. People walked with their dogs, rode on bikes, skateboards, and roller skates. Then, as I walked, I noticed a sparkly metal object in the cement in the road. I walked up to it and crouched down. It was a fork in the road, literally a fork in the road. It was unusually clean, like it had just been washed by someone. Even though the dust from the cars was thick in the air around the road, the fork was dust free. I stared intently at the fork, thinking and wondering how this fork was so clean. Seconds later, a horn exploded into my face. That was the last thing I heard.
