I'd rather you didn't

Don’t call me beautiful, instead tell me I’m the cutest boy you’ve ever met.
Don’t talk about my body, talk about me.
Don’t tell your friends you got yourself a sexy girl, tell your friends you got a dashing boy.
I am your dashing boy.
There is no girl, I think it's safe to say there never was.

There is so much to this, so much to these five lines.

I appreciate what you've done here, how much you've said in so few words.

Welcome to this community. I chose this as a Daily Read because it made me think.

This piece in particular really means a lot to me, in it I am speaking to all those who have misgendered me in their feelings of entitlement over my body. I appreciate your comment, I'm glad my writing could pick your brain.

I absolutely love this. So short and beautiful, but it says absolutely everything that needs to be said.
Obviously, misgendering does not get easier to handle, but especially as you move on to college, it happens less. In the entire month I've been at college, I've been misgendered about four times. It's cliche to say, but it does get better, it does improve, there is a future in which things are easier.
Thank you for your courage in sharing something so personal while being so new to the site. Have an absolutely fantabulous evening!

    Kyrridwen,

I so appreciate your comment and support. Your longtime leadership on this site is so appreciated and I am also thankful you are coming in when you can to mentor. Be well. Hope college is working out. (We miss you.)

    Kyrridwen,
Thank you so much for your comment, I'm glad you like it. It's good to know that there is hope out there, I can't help but forget that sometimes. I'm glad it got better for you, I hope with your parents, it gets better too. I wish you the best, have a lovely day! Thanks again!!
