I've learned to worship insignificance.
clouds were never meant to be seen.
Brown paper in a bottle
with blotchy ink spilled across it.
Broken shoelaces and wandering hearts.
I was not built to fly.
After all, the stars were never made for me:
I was made for them.
were meant to be filled with
but they were made
equally as worthy
to be lost,
it’s only where
you dump your world.
That moon up there,
was never meant to be whispered
to late at night,
it doesn’t want to hear your poetry
it’s too busy realigning the universe
it pulls together more than it falls apart.
Please don't listen to the ocean
it only regurgitates
what the fish say,
not the truth.
Hands don’t like to be caught empty
but then again,
feet were not made to walk alone,
toes have always been sore sports.
is a brilliant force of the universe
it just hates being talked about:
it was never taught to watch its tongue.
Don’t bite, it’s quick to lick back.
Today, my eyelashes noticed
how small they were.
Can’t anybody else realize
how good it is to shut your mouth
and close your eyes when necessary?
Perhaps then the world
wouldn’t be so angry
with our greed
and my jumbled words,
whispered without thought
to the late night sky.
Perhaps then I
wouldn’t feel so insignificant.
