The Smell of Fall

I want to smell the fall in the air
As we look up in the sky
Full of stars all different yet alike
I want the breeze to echo your name
As it floats along the wind
Transporting me to another time
I want to close my eyes and go back
As if none of this is real
As if all the colors sounds and lights
Are figments of my mind
I want to watch the sunset
Sitting high on the hill
Warm still wrapped in your blanket
Reliving this memory so I can forever feel the warmth
As the fall lights flicker in the sky
I hope forever that this will never die
So every year in the fall can be like the last
I can dream forever with all these memories
And I can feel fall every year as it comes around again

  • What is left

[This is a reposted edited version of a previous poem of mine.]

when all we have is spent–

    what will we have left?

    people once before us–

  • down the street

    i walked down the street
the streets i once used to know
filled with regrets and heavy with burdens
    of what once happened here

    i walked down the street
    a block or so down

  • Dear god, am I real?

I believe in god even though I may know he doesn’t exist

I know the mountains were not formed by him

Instead it is the science in the world

The reason we are here in this moment
