WHEN THE PARTY'S OVER

the party's over;

i'll walk myself home,

silent on the stairs,

wake up the next morning,

i'll lie and say i don't care.

the party's over;

you don't know what goes on

inside the twisted prison of my head,

you think i only hurt

when you're watching.

the party's over;

call you but it goes to voicemail,

kick scattered cups all around,

there's only a few people left,

no one close—no friends.

the party's over;

nothing happened,

i'll go, saying my goodbyes

to the people who didn't show—

i'm on my own.

when the party's over

i won't call anyone,

i'll just sulk back home

and to places

i never really belonged.

  • hidden away.

    I’ve always wondered

    What it’s like to be myself

    Openly and honest

    And not hiding behind bookshelves

    Waiting for someone to see

    And let me into their heart.

    A guy is knocking

  • Outsider

    My neighbor is doing Duolingo across the street,

    He’s in his sixties learning a new language

    And I’m just eating leftovers, watching him,

    Wondering if he’s practicing French for his husband.

  • See you, brother

    I don't think you're a waste of space,

    I'll give you my room and my pillow

    As long as you make the bed afterwards,

    And close the windows to keep the rain out.

    I don't think your not enough,
