What is Happening?

Can you tell me what is happening to the world?

Tell me why we say one thing and mean other.
Tell me why we label the people we fear.
Tell me why we condone war and then glorify it.
Tell me why the children of this earth are growing up afraid, hated, shunned.
Tell me why everything that we love can slip away
And everything we fear can take over.
Tell me why we are afraid to be kind to others.
Tell me why our best friends can be swallowed by the "norm."
Tell me why our boarders make fears
And our fears make war
And our war makes desolation.
Tell me why we kill each other
When we are brothers and sister.
Why do we fight when we only die?
To hold on to the past and refuse the future?
What is wrong with the idea of kindness?
Why do we feel a need to die for what we believe in?
Why is there constantly blood bathing our streets
and guns popping behind every corner?
Tell me why any child should live in such a place
where they live every moment as if the world would explode
and the walls come crashing down around them.

What happened?
What happened to the world?

But tell me too why love can mend cracks
Like broken pottery shards;
Why light can heal wounds too deep for a surgeon’s knife,
Why we can solve all our hatred with a hug and a kiss.
Love can counter every fear.
Light can shatter every darkness.
Faith can make all doubt in the world tremble.
So, show me how love can break the iron cuffs of misery.
Show me how a dream can light up the entire world.
Show me how a voice, your voice, my voice,
Can become the world’s voice.
And show me how we can fix the world
If only we can learn how to love again.

You have beautiful insight. I couldn't have written anything like this myself, unless I really pondered on it.
You're very talented with words, and I think that can be your super power.
In fact, there are many writers that have good writing, but don't put their heart into it.
You can truly save the world with your writing, as long as you try hard enough.
I'm going to go ahead and thank you for this piece, it was a very good read, and I enjoyed it.

Great message, I really enjoyed reading this. My favorite parts were in the first stanza when you broke from the "tell me why" pattern. I thought the lines that started with "and" were very powerful and well-selected.
