why ban words

when they speak the truth

i know our world has hardships

that we must overcome

i know some see things

in a different light

but when a child

sees a book

on how a boy

When I write poems about people in my life

I worry

They know exactly who they are

I wanted to scream in her face

tell her she is beautiful in every single way

make sure she knows 

she should never believe

the ones who tore her down when she was young

made her think

I fall 

    Down 

             Down

                       Down

Land on grass

I am who I am

But how much of who I am

Was made by you

Was it the way I fear the dark

I find beauty in the dark

Was it the way I fear change

I find growth in learning
