eighth grade
i dare you
to think of someone
who actually liked eighth grade.
did you find anyone?
i thought so.
eighth grade is a test
in a sense
of friendships
courage
coolness
social game
it's scary
fun -
quarentine part iii
right now, fear is summed up in eleven letters
i am still holed up in my house
waiting and watching and hoping
masks are commonplace
people stocking up on toilet paper
and food and gloves and purell sanitizer -

i met you last year
though it feels like we've known each other for years
i was the tiny girl in the walker
and during rehearsal that day
i walked up to you and introduced myself
the rest is history
we exchanged numbers -
quarantine part ii
still here
stuck in my house
for the rest of the year
restless
listened to a million audiobooks
drew up a storm
read till my eyes couldn't stay open
played till my body couldn't move
but still we're here -

but when people say it
they look like they've just sucked too hard on a lemon.
Uncomfortable silence follows.
They take in my wheels first,
eyes wondering
why I can walk,
why I have a walker, -
you can't hit a girl

boys yell one time too many in the crowded eighth grade cafeteria
