The highway blurs past
          Out the window as moonlight
Silhouettes the newly budded leaves, shines on the white cord to my ear buds that
thrums with guitar strings

It’s 1123 pm

and I am writing because it’s 

dangerous for me to be alone with my thoughts right now.


the world is an unfair place, you know? you work and worry and feel and sometimes-

It’s mid-October
And I feel the wind turn cold.
You are coming south again soon,
With your cold fingers and soft eyes.
The color seeps from the world, and I know it’s your doing.
