I love the Percy Jackson tv series, but I don't know whether or not I should read the books. I've read the graphic novels.

The books are targeted to a young audience, so if you're into that, you might like it. The writing style is pretty simplistic and decently easy to understand.
YES READ THE BOOKS ALWAYS READ THE BOOKS
BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS
the Percy Jackson series CHANGED my whole FREAKING LIFE they're so good
AND the pjo universe sprawls so well you will literally never run out of books to read - I started them in first grade and there's still more books coming out, and it's still relevant as a writing style even to an older audience :D
My ONLY issue with the whole series is (besides Heroes of Olympus) it feels like Rick started using this (really effective) formula for every book
hm yeah but honestly I feel like it doesn't matter because the books themselves are still super creative and well written and the whole hero's-journey thing is an actual studied phenomenon that appears in the vast majority of hero stories, but I do understand the repetition complaint with pjo especially since it's got so many books to it
That’s true. I think I just have to remember it was written for a younger audience. I rarely would notice that stuff in other series I loved as a kid.
