Abyssopelagic

My life is like a lake,

All water and round,

So clear it is a mirror,

Or rather, a looking glass.

But when you look a little closer,

Dip your toes beneath the surface,

The tears are all infected,

Ice cold and murky brown.

You think you know what's hidden

Behind the liquid glass,

But my life is more like the sea,

The reflection unknown and vast.
