After the Ballots

When the echoes of voices have softened their sound,
And the campaign signs come down from the ground,
We’re left in the quiet, in the soft light of dawn,
To mend what is fractured, to carry on.

In homes and in hearts, stories were told,
Dreams and ideals, both fierce and bold.
Some feel the weight of loss, cold and bare,
While others find hope, a breath in the air.

But beneath all the banners, the red and the blue,
Lies a thread, spun strong and true.
A common pulse, a shared, quiet song,
That binds us together, where we belong.

Now, in the stillness, let’s honor the choice,
With hands that rebuild and a gentle voice.
For this is our country, yours and mine,
A tapestry woven through struggle and time.

Let kindness be louder than words we regret,
Let unity rise where division is set.
And in every step forward, remember the way—
We shape our tomorrow by how we meet today.

  • Where I’m From

    I am from coffee beans,

from bitter brews and cracked porcelain mugs.

I am from the steamed soy eggs,

the scent that clings to mornings

    like an old, Chinese dwelling.

  • Wintery days

    Lights aglow on Christmas morn,
Laughter and joy in moments reborn.
Love fills the air as stories are shared,
A day of warmth, with hearts unprepared.

  • To Emily

In Amherst's shade, where whispers grow,
You stitched the seams of all we know,
A bee's soft hum, a slant of light,
Became the fabric of your night.
