If you put these words to melody
would they suddenly be known?
my poems played across the world
to an audience that's grown?
I've no melody in mind
only scribbles on a page
though as music comes and goes
my poems never age
The rhythm is the meter
the title acts as bass
the words that rhyme in every line
are notes you can't replace
They say all songs are poems
but it's rectangles and squares
Yes, all songs are poems,
but some poems don't get there.
When best friends of old
become polite passersby
still give them a smile and let your heart be full
for theirs are broken too
and need to be reminded to mend.
Where the sun meets the land and the trees become shadow
A city of twilight is built from shining rays.
A beautiful motherland that stands tall in the sea
She looks like her mother
but takes after her father
in speed of temper and wit
she has eyes like her father
but takes after her mother
in grace and denial of pain.
